FlowPeek is free software under the MIT licence. These terms explain what that means in practice for someone who is downloading and using the app.
The licence comes first
The software is licensed under the MIT licence, and that licence is what governs your use of it. Where anything on this page appears to conflict with the licence text, the licence text wins. This page is a plain reading of it, not a second set of rules layered on top.
What you may do
- Use FlowPeek for anything, including at work and inside a company, at no cost.
- Read, modify, build and redistribute the source, under the terms of the MIT licence, which asks only that the copyright notice and licence travel with it.
- Stop using it at any time. Deleting the application and its Application Support folder removes everything it kept on your Mac.
Where to get it
Official builds come from the releases page of the repository or from the project's Homebrew tap, and are signed and notarized with Apple. A copy obtained anywhere else is not something this project can vouch for.
Updates
The app checks once a day for a new version and tells you when one exists. You choose whether to install it, and you can turn automatic checks off. Updates are delivered from the releases page above and are verified against the project's signing key before they are applied.
The optional AI feature
FlowPeek can ask a language model to write Mermaid source for you. It is off until you switch it on, and it uses an API key you supply for an account you hold with that provider. When you use it, your prompt goes to that provider and their terms and pricing apply to that request. FlowPeek is not a party to your relationship with them, and any cost you incur there is yours. Model output is not guaranteed to be correct; check the diagram before you rely on it.
No warranty
As the MIT licence states, the software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and noninfringement. The authors and copyright holders are not liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from the software or its use.
In ordinary language: it is a free viewer written with care and tested, but it comes with no promise of fitness for your particular purpose. FlowPeek only ever reads your documents and never writes to them, which is the main thing worth knowing about the risk of using it.

These pages describe the software and link to it. They are provided as is, and the documentation may lag behind the current release; the repository is the accurate source.
Privacy
What the app reads, keeps and sends is described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and the edit is visible in the repository's history like every other change to the project.
